Tutoring & Academic Expertise

ABOUT ME | EDUCATION, COACHING & PERSONAL TRAINING

With over 20 years of teaching experience across private and state schools, I bring together specialist educational expertise, professional coaching and personal training to provide tailored, results-focused support for individuals at different stages of life.

My background includes senior leadership as Head of Psychology across four sixth forms and colleges, extensive experience teaching A-Level Psychology, more than seven years tutoring A-Level Physical Education, and over five years teaching Key Stage 4 Mathematics and Biology. I have also completed over 500 hours of primary-school cover across Reception to Year 6 during the past two years, supporting effective classroom learning, positive behaviour and pupils with a wide range of educational and additional needs.

As a Senior Examiner for UK and international examination boards, with over 18 years of examining experience, I have an in-depth understanding of assessment criteria, examination technique and the strategies that help learners maximise their potential. Alongside my Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), I bring extensive experience in curriculum planning, differentiated teaching, SEND support and helping learners develop confidence, independence and resilience.

My wider professional background in coaching, psychology and fitness enables me to take a holistic approach to development, recognising the importance of motivation, wellbeing, focus and consistent progress. Whether supporting a pupil in the classroom, preparing a student for examinations, helping an adult improve their organisation or designing a bespoke fitness programme, my approach is always personalised, practical and goal-oriented.

1. EDUCATION & ACADEMIC TUTORING

I provide tailored academic support designed to improve understanding, strengthen examination technique and build the confidence needed for long-term success.

Subjects and areas of expertise:
• A-Level Psychology
• A-Level Physical Education and Sport Science
• Key Stage 4 Mathematics and Biology
• Examination preparation, revision planning and assessment technique
• Curriculum support, academic mentoring and university preparation
• EPQ and UCAS guidance
• SEND and neurodiversity-informed learning support, including ADHD and autism

My experience as both a teacher and Senior Examiner allows me to identify gaps in understanding, explain complex concepts clearly and help students understand exactly what examiners are looking for. Sessions are adapted to each learner’s needs, whether the priority is improving grades, developing independent study skills or rebuilding confidence.

PRIMARY EDUCATION AND CLASSROOM SUPPORT

Alongside my secondary and post-16 specialisms, I have completed over 500 hours of primary-school cover across Reception to Year 6 over the past two years.

This experience includes classroom management, maintaining established routines, supporting lesson delivery, adapting activities to individual needs and promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation. I aim to create a calm, inclusive learning environment in which pupils feel supported, engaged and ready to learn.

I bring the same professional, flexible approach to primary settings as I do to specialist tutoring, drawing on my QTS, classroom experience and background in inclusive education.

2. PERSONAL TRAINING & FITNESS COACHING

My personal training combines evidence-informed exercise, individualised programming and practical coaching to help clients improve their fitness, movement, confidence and overall performance.

Areas of specialism:
• Strength and conditioning
• Corrective exercise and movement quality
• Weight management and fitness nutrition
• Sports performance enhancement
• Pre- and postnatal training, within appropriate professional scope
• MMA-specific strength and conditioning

I have undertaken extensive continuing professional development (CPD) in strength and conditioning, corrective movement and holistic fitness strategies. Programmes are tailored to each client’s goals, experience, abilities and circumstances, with an emphasis on sustainable progress, appropriate exercise selection and measurable results.

Sessions are available:
• In a private gym, with a maximum of two to three clients
• Outdoors
• Online

My background in education and coaching also informs how I deliver personal training. I break down techniques clearly, establish realistic goals and help clients build the consistency and confidence needed to progress.

3. LIFE COACHING & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

I provide structured, practical coaching to help individuals overcome barriers, improve their organisation and move towards meaningful personal, academic and professional goals.

My training includes neurodiversity coaching, ADHD and autism support, counsellor-level coaching skills and CBT-based coaching approaches.

Areas of support include:
• Goal setting, accountability and follow-through
• Productivity, planning and organisation
• ADHD-informed strategies and executive functioning
• Mindset, motivation and confidence building
• Managing transitions in education, career and personal life
• Interview preparation and employment readiness
• University applications and academic development

Sessions focus on identifying obstacles, developing realistic strategies and translating goals into manageable actions. My approach is collaborative and strengths-based, helping clients recognise their capabilities, develop practical tools and build greater independence.

Coaching is available online or in person, with sessions tailored to each individual’s circumstances and objectives.

4. AN INTEGRATED APPROACH TO PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

What distinguishes my work is the combination of expertise across education, psychology, coaching and fitness.

These disciplines complement one another. My teaching experience informs how I explain and structure learning; my examining background helps me identify the steps needed to achieve specific outcomes; and my coaching and personal training experience supports motivation, accountability and sustainable behaviour change.

This integrated approach allows me to work with a broad range of clients, from primary-school pupils and examination students to adults seeking greater focus, professional development or improved physical fitness.

All sessions are tailored to the individual, with an emphasis on clear goals, practical strategies, supportive guidance and measurable progress.
